My Custom 1/6 Advent Children Tifa Lockhart: ACG ART, Super Duck and Verycool
Tifa Lockhart’s appearance in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children has always been one of my favorite versions of the character. For this project, I combined two ACG ART ACG002 head sculpts, the Super Duck SET090 outfit and a Verycool VCD-02A body to create my own interpretation of Tifa in 1/6 scale. You can watch the complete build and showcase below before taking a closer look at the parts, body choice and dressing process.
Tifa Lockhart’s appearance in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children has always been one of my favorite versions of the character.
For this custom figure, I combined two Tifa head sculpts from the ACG ART My Dreaming Girl Figure ACG002 A-Tears Edition – Deluxe 2 Head Edition, the Advent Children outfit from Super Duck SET090, and a Verycool VCD-02A body.
The part used for this custom Tifa
The main components of this build are:
- ACG ART ACG002 A-Tears Edition Tifa head sculpts
- Super Duck SET090 Advent Children outfit
- Verycool VCD-02A pale-skin body with seamless legs
- Boots and accessories from the Super Duck set
Choosing the right body
The original body included with the ACG ART figure has noticeably narrower shoulders than many commonly available 1/6 female bodies. Because of that, placing the ACG ART head on a different body does not automatically produce balanced proportions.
I mainly considered three options:
- The original ACG ART body
- TBLeague S10D
- Verycool VCD-01A or VCD-02A
Using the original body would probably have been the safest choice for matching the head. However, I wanted my version of Tifa to have a slightly stronger and more athletic appearance.
Tifa is not just an attractive character. She is a martial artist, so I wanted the body to suggest a little more physical strength while still looking feminine.
The black Advent Children outfit also helps make the figure’s silhouette appear slimmer. Because of that, I felt that a slightly fuller body would still work well once everything was assembled.
In the end, I chose the Verycool VCD-02A.
I also preferred the version with seamless legs because they look much cleaner in photographs. And, to be completely honest, I also enjoy photographing the details and poses of her feet. Yes, that may have influenced my decision more than it should have—haha.
Dressing the Verycool VCD-02A body
One advantage of the VCD-02A is its surface.
The skin feels very smooth and relatively dry, which makes it easier to dress than the TBLeague S10D. The S10D has a surface with noticeably more friction, and tight clothing can be difficult to pull into position without stretching or damaging it.
Even with the smoother Verycool body, the Super Duck skirt was still extremely tight.
To make the process easier, I wrapped the body in a thin layer of plastic film before sliding the outfit into place. The film reduced friction and allowed the skirt to move over the hips and legs much more easily.
Without it, I would have had to use considerably more force, which could have damaged the stitching or the synthetic leather.
This is one of those small tricks that can make a big difference when dressing 1/6 scale bodies in tight-fitting outfits.
The Super Duck SET090 outfit
The Super Duck SET090 outfit recreates Tifa’s black costume from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Visually, it is still a very attractive set. The dark colors, fitted design and layered details work especially well with the ACG ART head sculpts.
However, the outfit is made partly from synthetic leather, and that is also its biggest weakness.
No matter how carefully synthetic leather is stored, it will probably not last forever. Heat, humidity, friction and age can eventually cause the material to harden, peel or crack. This is especially concerning with fitted 1/6 scale clothing because the material remains under tension while it is displayed on the body.
I will try to protect it from direct sunlight, excessive heat and humidity, but I am realistic about its long-term durability. It looks beautiful now, although I do not expect the material to remain perfect permanently.
That is unfortunately a common compromise with many 1/6 scale outfits made from faux leather.
The finished custom Tifa
Once everything was assembled, I was happy that I had chosen the VCD-02A.
The body gives Tifa a stronger presence without making her look overly muscular or disproportionate. The black outfit visually reduces the width of the body, while the ACG ART head sculpts remain the main focus of the figure.
The proportions may not be identical to the original ACG ART release, but that was never my goal. I wanted to create the version of Tifa that looked right to me.
That is one of the things I enjoy most about customizing 1/6 scale figures. There is rarely only one “correct” combination. A head sculpt, body and outfit can look completely different depending on how they are matched, posed and photographed.
Photographing her with my Sony camera
After finishing the custom build, I took the opportunity to shoot several photos with my Sony camera.
The two ACG ART head sculpts gave me more variety during the session, while the seamless legs of the VCD-02A made full-body poses look cleaner. The black outfit also worked well under controlled lighting, although photographing black synthetic leather requires some care to preserve its surface details.
I originally planned to take only a few quick pictures, but as usual, I became completely absorbed in the process and spent far more time photographing her than I expected.
That is often the most enjoyable part for me. Building the figure is only the beginning—posing it, adjusting the lighting and discovering the best camera angles are what finally bring the character to life.
Final thoughts
For this project, the Verycool VCD-02A turned out to be the right choice for the look I wanted.
The original ACG ART body may offer a more natural shoulder width for the head sculpt, while the TBLeague S10D remains another possible option for collectors who prefer a silicone body. However, the smoother surface, seamless legs and slightly stronger proportions of the VCD-02A made it more suitable for my custom Advent Children Tifa.
Dressing the figure was still challenging, and I remain concerned about how well the synthetic leather outfit will age. Despite those limitations, I am very pleased with the final result.
She may not be the official or definitive version of Tifa Lockhart—but she is currently my ideal 1/6 scale Advent Children Tifa.
